Douglas Griess is pleased announce he will be presenting at the National Public Records Research Association (NPRRA) annual national conference in Santa Fe, NM on the 18th of September. Mr. Griess will be presenting two topics Friday afternoon.
The first session is Proper Business Succession Planning for Your Business at 2:30 pm which Mr. Griess will jointly present with Jeff Campbell of Wealth Concepts. The second topic is LLC Member/Manager Indemnification at 4:00 pm. The descriptions of the sessions are below:
Proper Business Succession Planning for Your Business
One of the most important things you can do for your customers, family, and business relationships is to take the time to address business succession. You have invested a great deal to grow and build your business, and in that process, to establish your place within the market and your community. In this session, we will address the business and legal framework in which you can responsibly address how to create a successful succession plan for both planned and unplanned transitions that works to take care of your business’s stakeholders and maintains your business value for the long-term. Specific topics from the legal side will include putting together enforceable owner buy-sell agreements and structures.
LLC Member/Manager Indemnification
Indemnification provisions are common in contracts. While one of the more important provisions, for business owners, they are often shrouded in mystery, misunderstood, and somewhat inaccessible. By considering indemnification for members and managers of LLCs in LLC Operating Agreements, we will work to demystify the concept and how it works. The focus will be on indemnification of members/managers in LLCs, but the session will also provide businesses with a framework for understanding these provisions in all types of contracts.
